Learning, the Joy and Practicality of Use

Contemplating life, learning and computers….can it be done? I ask this question due to the nature of all three subjects. What is the nature, you ask…come on….ever changing! That is the joy and the anti-joy of the whole beast.
Life is a joy, simply because it is. You can’t quantify it, research it or categorize it. Life exists, as we do, and you just go with the flow, or jump into and existing flow and join it, contrary to all those who think they change the flow of existence. (I am generalizing of course. I realize several men and women in the world have changed the ebb and flow of things in our world dramatically.)
Learning is one of the joys of life. It is a wonderful way to live and share with the humanity that we are all a part of. I cannot fathom a way of life that avoids or denies the joy of becoming more learned and more aware of the world around you, even it that knowledge brings you down and makes you realize that life is not at beautiful as you believed it be.
So life and learning all go together with interfacing with the rest of the world via a computer. The things that we learned, the sites we visited and the places we created were all amazing and made me feel so great because I had learned about the mysterious places that I was curious about. This computer stream of consciousness is also incapable of being categorized (due to its enormous nature), is ever-changing and can bring joy to anyone willing to put some effort into it.
It was (and is) the practicality of integrating and utilizing the things we learned into an existing life or life pattern that befuddles me. What do I throw away, what do I delete from the life stream that I exist in to make room for the exciting new things I learned? Usually the yin and yang of my life is not thought of in a conscious way, but now that the question is raised, I realize, perhaps, that I need to think about how to use all of the “stuff” that is now running around in my head and on my computer. Try to change my pattern of existence to incorporate what has been given, that is the true nature of my personal dilemma.
I realize now that there is a whole world of people, events and discussions about anything and everything that is NOT mainstream media. My son is always filling me in on little tidbits of the underbelly of the world that is not seen or heard, because it is not seen as legitimate by the “authority figures that be.” He is so, so right on! I now feel that I can truly join in………
I truly enjoyed being with my peers to talk, discuss, laugh, engage in thoughtful discourse, in unthoughtful discourse, to be amazed by people’s ingenuity and brainpower. The class was one of the highlights of the year so far and I really want to thank you for spending your time and energy on us. It was, to coin a second grade term, awesome!

I can’t believe the naivete of my life at times. I thought this was going to be a piece of cake and BINGO, it was a tuna noodle casserole. Oh well, a little frustration and running into a wall is good for us all. Now that I can do it today…will I really remember how to do it next Tuesday?
